Who We Are

Christ Lutheran is a member of a nationwide association of congregations known as "The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod". L.C.M.S. congregations are involved in compassionate outreach locally and around the world.

Our congregation is currently being led by our Senior pastor, Roger Wohletz. Pastor Jim Robinson is our Associate Pastor and is assisting where he is able.

Our church council sees to the financial and operational function of church business and is chaired by Dan Mahoney. Christ Lutheran's elders serve as spiritual shepherds and help link individual members to the church body as a whole. Both council and elder positions are elected by voting members.

What We Believe

As members of the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod (L.C.M.S), we respond to the love of the Triune God:

  • The Father, creator of all that exists;
  • Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan;
  • And the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments.

The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

Our congregation accepts and teaches the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther who inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teachings of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases:

Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone.

Grace alone
God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.

Faith alone
By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.

Scripture alone
The Bible is God's inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

As a congregation, we believe in the Nicene Creed, and this is our statement of faith…

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again with glory to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the Prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

As Christians, we believe:

  • That the Bible is God's true word, and our only source of accurate knowledge about God...
  • That mankind is sinful by nature and has lost true fellowship with God, and needs spiritual rebirth...
  • That God loves all people, no matter how sinful, and He wants to give eternal life to all who trust in His Son Jesus Christ...
  • That salvation, heaven and eternal life are the free gifts of God, won for us by the obedient life, sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God...
  • That God offers forgiveness of all our sins and the gift of His Holy Spirit to all who receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior...
  • That people receive God's salvation when we acknowledge and forsake our sins, believe that Jesus Christ is our true and only Savior, and accept God's forgiveness offered to us...
  • That living a Christian life means receiving God's grace and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit, by which we are enabled to follow the teachings of Christ and His Apostles...
  • That our eternal destiny, whether in heaven or hell, is determined by whether or not we truly receive trust in Jesus Christ our Savior. If we are lost, it will be because we rejected what God offers us in Jesus...
